Pollution Abatement
1. Floating Trashboom Barriers
A flagship initiative of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) to intercept floating waste in Chennai's river systems before it reaches the sea. The Trash Boom is a floating barrier system that captures plastics and other floating debris, reducing marine pollution, improving river water quality, enhancing plastic recovery and end-of-life management, and protecting coastal and marine ecosystems.
