Our commitment towards Coastal Resilience

Through innovation, partnership, and inclusive participation, TN SHORE aims to build resilient coasts, healthy ecosystems, and sustainable livelihoods for future generations.

TN SHORE is designed to contribute to global environmental commitments including India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), SDGs (especially SDGs 13, 14, and 15), and the Paris Agreement.

TN SHORE contributes to climate action, sustainable coastal development, and the long term well-being of coastal communities through collaboration with government agencies, local institutions, Village Mangrove Councils (VMCs) and community stakeholders.

It adopts a multi-sectoral, ecosystem-based, and community-centric approach, aligned with India’s national policy frameworks such as the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification 2019, the National Coastal Mission (NCM), and the State Action Plan on Climate Change.

The initiative supports the restoration and protection of vital ecosystems including mangroves, coral reefs, wetlands, and seagrass meadows, which serve as natural buffers against climate risks and are essential for biodiversity conservation.

(TN SHORE) Project is a flagship initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu dedicated to strengthening coastal resilience, protecting marine ecosystems, and promoting sustainable blue economy development across the state.
